Here we go !! Or perhaps more appropriately . . . And they’re off ! Thank you for visiting the website of wesellbloodstock.com and I really hope you like the site and are interested in what we are offering.
It has definitely not been a 5-minute process, I think I actually had the idea in approximately 2012 but there is always something else to concentrate on. However, over the past 12 months, and with the Coronavirus pandemic, it has really struck me how this concept could really work and help our Bloodstock industry.
Over the past 10 years or so I have helped a number of clients to sell their horses, whether that is horses-in-training to Hong Kong or the USA or broodmares within the UK and Europe. I have had a number of successes but also a number that have fallen through, mainly due to failing the vet at x-ray stage (for horses-in-training). It is so frustrating and I have experienced that frustration from both the selling and buying perspective.
From a vendor’s perspective I think the key grievances have been the subsequent changes to their horses programme when different offers come in and the loss of time if the horse fails the vet – just last year we had a filly that didn’t pass the vetting due to changes in her knees, if we had known about this from the start we would have been so much better off. Needless to say, she won next time out and is an exciting prospect for 2021.
As a purchaser it is an equally frustrating game – finding a horse for sale and agreeing a price is one thing but then you go through the vetting process and especially when vetting for Hong Kong or USA where so many fail, it becomes a timely and expensive process. A full vetting for Hong Kong will cost approximately £2,000 so you can soon run up a large bill without even owning a horse at the end.
At Wesellbloodstock.com we hope to minimise the bad experiences and maximise the vendor’s chance of a sale and the purchaser’s chance of buying. Having horses listed for sale with a price plus an x-ray and scope report will, hopefully, put both the vendor and the purchaser in a strong position.
I will handle all the enquiries and I will be the point of contact for the vendor and the potential purchasers offering a 1-2-1 personal service.
I am also very pleased to say that we will be giving something back to the industry that has given me my career to date. With every sales commission we charge we will be donating 10% of our fee to Retraining Of Racehorses (ROR). Without these magnificent animals none of us would have the sport and industry that we love and we are thrilled to be able to give something back.
Wesellbloodstock.com is open for business and I really look forward to hearing from you, whether you have 1 good horse or a stable or stud farm full of them, or if you are a purchaser looking for your next winner or broodmare.
Best wishes to you all for 2021.
